David Michael Reis

David Michael Reis, age 49, of Kettering, passed away on Thursday November 2, 2023 at his home surrounded by love. It was much too soon for him and for those who were forced to let him go. Dave was welcomed to the world by his parents and sister on March 15, 1974 in Columbus, Ohio. When he was toddler, the family moved to Beavercreek, and he stayed in the Dayton area ever since. As a kid he enjoyed being outdoors. He especially loved camping with his grandparents on the Ohio River. Dave played soccer and was a beast on water skis. He could slalom and zoom across the lake barefoot making it seem effortless. Dave was fortunate in meeting JaNae, the love of his life, when he was 20 and she was 18. Through thick and thin, they made life work. Their family was complete when their twin daughters and their son joined them. Dave fiercely loved his family. He was proud of his kids and the things they have accomplished so far. Dave was looking forward to seeing all that they would do. He loved his dog, Lizzy. She was a faithful companion, riding shotgun on many outings, and he was devastated when she died earlier this year. Dave’s grand dogs, Lyla and Ryder, were frequent visitors and provided him with lots of laughs, too. He loved their goofy antics. There wasn’t anything Dave couldn’t fix. He was incredibly smart and could envision a project with minimal description. What was more amazing, is that he could complete the described project without much difficulty. There are countless people, who have benefited from Dave’s craftsmanship and their homes reflect his abilities. Dave frequently downplayed his talents, but if he did a project for you, it was done well, and the quality was noticeable. In recent years, Dave was out and about as a Door Dasher. He enjoyed hustling from order to order and was extremely resourceful in making the most while active. Dave appreciated each of his fellow Dasher buddies and maintained close contact with them in their own little group. Dave enjoyed going to many concerts. He was a fan of Kid Rock, Adam Calhoun, and Tom McDonald. He truly loved working on cars. Dave was like a kid at Christmas when his father-in-law, Garry, let him buy his Mustang. He absolutely loved spending time working on it with his son, David. Together, they spent countless hours adding special touches and he was so happy cruising around in it. Always one to help with whatever was needed, Dave gave his time selflessly. No matter what was asked, he would be there. Dave was a what you see is what you get kind of guy. He did things his way and was never pretentious. Although cancer stole so much from him, he was a fighter and tried so hard to not let it impact him. Dave was incredibly blessed by so many people, who donated so that he could enjoy a cruise with his family in September. If that was you, thank you! It was a fun-filled time making wonderful memories, which will be treasured by his family forever. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents John and Caroline Cluxton, paternal grandparents Edward and Norma Reis; Uncle Craig Cluxton and Uncle Adam Reis. Dave is survived by his wife, JaNae, daughters Morgan Reis and Madison Reis and her boyfriend John Gaeke; son David Reis; mother Caralee Cluxton Reis; father Ed and Darinda Reis; sister Jennifer and Keith Justice; brothers Nicholas Reis and Adam Reis; sisters Marin Reis and Sara Reis; mother-in-law Marsha and Roy Clem; father-in-law Garry and Sarah Vickers; nephews Kallen Justice, Andrew Justice, and Jared Justice; brothers-in-law Chris Vickers and Ryan Vickers; and numerous other relatives and friends. A Gathering of Family and Friends to celebrate Dave’s life will be held 5:00-8:00 pm on Friday November 10, 2023 in The Reception Room at The Reverie at SouthBrook Church, 9095 Washington Church Road, Miamisburg, Ohio.
