Rev. A. H. “Brother Sam” Sampley, 88, of Englewood, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, May 30, 2017. He honorably served his country in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. Brother Sam retired as Pastor at First Baptist Church West Jefferson; however, he continued to serve God at numerous other churches in the area. Many lives were blessed through him organizing the Ohio Southern Baptist Disaster Relief Chaplaincy Ministry and continuing to minister to others in need for 17 years in this outreach. He was preceded in death by his parents, Aaron and Ruth. Brother Sam is survived by his wife, of 66 years, Betty; daughter, Kaye (Greg) Neves, of Piqua; son, Buddy (Roxanne), of Tipp City; sister, Lorene Francis, of Cool, TX; grandchildren, Shannon Rae Sampley, Adam (Emily) Sampley, Ami McLandsborough, Shannon Kay (John) Camacho; Kristin (Jason) Price, Richard Purdin III, Chelsea (Chris) King, Jason (Tina) Neves, and Jennifer Jacomet; 15 great grandchildren, and numerous other relatives and friends. Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, June 2nd at Huber Heights First Baptist Church, 5875 Shull Rd., Huber Heights. Family will greet friends 5:00-8:00 pm on Thursday, June 1st and again on Friday, June 2nd from 10:00 am until time of services at 11:00 am at the church. Burial will be at Forest Hills Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Brother Sam’s memory to The Building Fund of Huber Heights First Baptist or Hospice of Dayton. Brother Sam was a kind and loving pastor, who touched the lives of countless people as a faithful servant of God. He was much loved and will be greatly missed.
