Gene C. Prettyman Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Gene C. Prettyman, age 83, of Centerville, passed away on Thursday, September 11, 2014 at Miami Valley Hospital. He was a combat veteran, having honorably served his country during the Korean Conflict. Gene retired as a Physician Assistant from the Dayton VA Medical Center and served with the Washington Township Fire Department for 17 years. He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Helen and Paul Prettyman. Gene is survived by his loving wife, of 28 years, Jan; daughters, Sheila (Stephen) Baker, of West Chester, Ohio; Paula Prettyman, of Richmond,Texas; and Janice (Michael) Harris, of Centerville; sons, Stephen (Annette) Dunbar, of Fairborn, and David (Carey) Dunbar, of Powell, Ohio; sister, Zena Dixon, of Thomasville, Georgia; grandchildren, Mollie Baker, Michelle Harris, Christopher Harris, Ned Dunbar, Zachary Dunbar, and Cameron Dunbar; and the mother of his children, Betty Prettyman. Family will greet friends on Monday, September 15, 2014 from 5:00-8:00 p.m. at Reis Legacy Center Meyer-Boehmer Chapel, 6661 Clyo Road, Centerville. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 16th at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Cincinnati, Ohio. If desired, contributions may be made in Gene's memory to St. Jude Children's Hospital or Washington Township Firefighter's Association.
