Idabel Mae Hartman

Idabel Mae Hartman, age 95, of Centerville, Ohio went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, March 17, 2019. She was born in Glenmora, Louisiana to Mr. and Mrs. John Winegeart on July 1, 1923. Idabel graduated from Glenmora High School, class of 1940, and Vincent Business College, Lake Charles, Louisiana. Idabel married the love of her life and was whisked away to Ohio by Rowe Hartman on August 3, 1945, to whom she was married for 62 years until his death in 2008. She worked in downtown Dayton for 11 years as a finance officer and then served as church secretary for 20 years at Westwood/Far Hills Baptist Church. For another 23 years, she and Rowe worked for Kaffenbarger Truck Equipment Co. delivering trucks all over the country together. In the late 1950’s, what is now MorningStar Baptist Church (formally known as Franklin Street Baptist Church) began as a prayer meeting in Rowe and Idabel’s home. She and Rowe were thus charter members of, and faithful servants to, Franklin Street Baptist Church. Idabel is survived by her brother, Jean Winegeart of Glenmora, Louisiana and sister, Chris Basham of Panama City, Florida, several nieces and nephews, Connie, David, Lisa, Sharon, Francine, Laura, Steve, Reggie, Mark, Rodney, and Claude. She is also survived by her dear friends Judy (Fritz) and Dan Smith, Kathy (Fritz) and John Kyle, and Jerry and Earlene Scott. She was preceded in death by her brothers John Winegeart, Jr. and Claude W. Winegeart and nephew Kimbrel Winegeart. We wish to thank the staff and loving caregivers at Family Tree Residential Assisted Living for their dedication and love that they showed to Idabel. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 23, 2019 at MorningStar Baptist Church, 208 Nutt Rd., Centerville, with Rev. John Decker, officiating. Burial will follow at Centerville Cemetery. Family will receive friends Saturday at the church from 10:00 a.m. until time of service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to MorningStar Baptist Church or a charity of your choice. Arrangements in care of the Schlientz-Moore & Reis Life Celebration Center.
