Jacqueline F. Machowsky

Jacqueline F. Grotto Machowsky, age 87, of Oakwood, passed away on October 22, 2022. Jackie was born in Danbury, Connecticut on October 8, 1935. She lived in Danbury until graduating from Danbury High School. While in high school, she won awards for dancing and was honored as The Best Dancer. Her excellent dancing skills were shared with others as she taught dances such as The Jive. During those years growing up, Jackie took many trips to New York City, where she was able to experience the theatre arts. Those early adventures cultivated a love for the arts. Her deep passion for opera, musicals, philharmonic and dance was intertwined deep in her soul. After high school, Jackie moved to California to pursue and obtain certification as a Dental Hygienist. Later, she moved to Nevada and attended UNLV. In 1957, Jackie married the love of her life, Jerry Machowsky. They moved to Dayton to raise their family. After raising her children, she enjoyed a career as an Account Executive with Colonial Ads-retiring after 25 years of service. Jackie touched the lives of countless individuals through her charity work with Dayton Opera Guild, Christ Child Society, Dayton Philharmonic and Children’s Traveling Opera. Jackie was a person, who loved her family and friends. She was always up for planning and, of course, attending social events. Jackie was a true warrior, beating the odds against physical setbacks throughout her life. She led by example with incredible strength and grace. Jackie’s smile and wit will be forever missed by her family and life-long friends. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 53 years, Gerald V. Machowsky; father, Dom Grotto; mother, Elizabeth Kalil, and stepfather, Ernest Kalil. Jackie is survived by her daughter, Lynne Ann (Jim) of Miami Township; sons, Paul of Kettering and David of Oakwood; brothers-in-law, Juergen (June) of Dayton and Helmet (Sandie) of Texas; grandchildren, Steven, Daniel, Olivia, and Madison; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Family will greet friends 11:00-11:45 AM on Monday, November 7, 2022 in the Gathering Room at St. Albert the Great Catholic Church, 3033 Far Hills Ave., Kettering. Memorial Mass will follow at 12:00 Noon at the church. Inurnment will be at David’s Cemetery. If desired, contributions may be made in Jackie’s memory to the charity of your choice.
